SortUSout is a campaign run by students at the University of Sussex, which aims to draw senior management’s attention to concerns about the student experience and treatment of staff. At the 2005 Students’ Union AGM, the motion to instigate the SortUSout campaign was passed almost unanimously by the 500-600 students in attendance.

Since then, the campaign organisers have worked hard on a wide range of initiatives including organised protest, lobbying, and various promotional projects such as posters, newsletters, media coverage, and a 45 minute documentary film on the issues surrounding SortUSout.

In the summer of 2006, SortUSout’s campaigning was instrumental in reversing management’s decision to cut Sussex’s internationally respected chemistry department.

SortUSout’s organisers continue to push for improvements in all aspects of university life, and intend to increase the campaign’s momentum in the coming months. They meet on Mondays at 5PM, and welcome anyone interested in participating.
